The last of the Norton twins, 850 Cafe Racer

Please note that this is one of the last one year only bike for the British bike enthusiasts. Winter project for the British bike guy who wants a unique Norton.

History

I purchased the bike in xxxx as far as I can remember with about 18K on it. Bike was done for a guy who wanted a Cafe Racer and lost interest in it.
I drove the bike occasionally for about two summers and put about 2-3k on it. Sunday mornings mostly. The bike ran extremely strong and did not need to be touched. Since the bike was run with velocity stacks by the previous owner I decided to do the top end , do some modifications and repaint to suit my taste which I just never had time to finish.

Bike was rebuilt and has been sitting in the basement since about xxxx-82. Has aluminum bronze guides, carbs rebuilt with stainless slides, etc. All of the fiberglass work is there for the bike and is complete. Only thing missing is the speedometer which was working erratically and was given out for repair, never to be seen again. Clear plastic wind screen on top of fairing is cracked-broken since someone stepped on it. Has two sets of Boyer ignition I think... a spare, oil cooler, unique two into one exhaust headers, some new cables, 850 owner's manual, etc. Starter is removed and mounting hole covered with machined aluminum cover. All of the starter parts are there if to be used again.

Mechanically the bike needs nothing and has 0 km since rebuild. Has been turned over regularly and is perfect. Unfortunately the years in the damp basement...specially the last two oxidized the bright work which needs to be removed and repolished. Notice the gear shift lever pointing forward...should be pointing towards the foot peg, rearwards.

Anyone looking at this bike should know what it is and realize I will not give the bike away. Bike is for serious British bike enthusiast-collector.

$xxxx.00 or best sensible offer.
Thanks

For all of you that were enquiring about trading, I have thought about it and this is what might work for me. xxxxcc + touring-cruiser bike. Honda VTX, Kawasaki Meansreak, Vulcan Nomad or Classic, Yamaha Royal Star , in the mid xxxx's. Bike would have to be in good condition with not too high km. I am at the age where my wrenching days are over and need something reliable, smooth and comfortable. Please no crotch rockets, I like them but just can't really ride them for any length of time. Hips and knees are shot. If you have a bike that would suit me,I am sure we could possibly work out something.
